[D3] Voration 2 - Piece 19 from my DCM 113 Arkiv Box [Disc 8]. - The perpetual Motif - Voration 2 - longer and even further out than Veration 1 [see below for back ground]. Would we ever make it home ?
[D2] Voration 1 - First of two album length studio recordings I made with German composer Johannas Schafer - AKA Dr C - what can I say of him - friend - mathematician - lost soul - he visited me - when he was back in the world from some far out trip. Beautiful guy - he taught me so much when I was 18 with his music and his logic - lunatic, genius, Cosmic sailor - he fried himself. We might unkindly say an Acid Casualty. I don’t do drugs but I sailed with musically on three albums - Live at the Pineapple Peppermint show and the two Voration recordings I released in my 14 disc Arkiv Box ‘A Box of Delights’ [My album DCM 113].
The Text for Voration 1 - Piece 18 from my DCM 113 Arkiv Box [Disc 7].
“The Perpetual Motif’ - Voration 1 - A fifty minute trip for those of us who "feel Obliged to space" [Tangerine dream] I wish I'd come up with that one - 'A lonely orbit- very far away' [and that was mine]. We, German composer Johannas Schafer AKA Dr C, and I, 'the perpetual men’ - have similar backgrounds and just for fun we formed the 'Revenge of the Umbrella People' Index D in my collaboration index. Our one album project being - [D1] 'Live at The
Pineapple Peppermint - an outrageous place, I shall not go into detail. Suffice to say, a few years Later we came back together to record two further album length projects - Voration’s 1 and 2 - for a double album perhaps.- and now we are called The Perpetual motif. Unfortunately he became seriously ill and the project was left unpublished.
He fried himself as many people did, on drugs - what people unkindly call an Acid Casualty - but that’s the truth of it. He Returned to Germany now shuns communication. He is happy for the Voration’s to see the light of Day as long as they cost Ezra Pounds [a free down load our terms]. He doesn’t want wont a separate collaboration for us as The Perpetual Motive. Rather to just include them as Revenge of the Umbrella People. In another life he is a maths Doctorate so he is actually Dr J - not Dr C of , his Pseudonym.
An afterthought perhaps - but it shines a light on a part of my life and his too. I like to think he is happy on one of those very Far off places we visited together in music - calculating in the light of a distant sun. ‘Peace be with’ a distant soul. He spent too long at the Pineapple Peppermint - where unicorns lick you to sleep and play a mean bass.

Then as himself by name as [G] JB & Johannas Schafer we released a lovely Drumming set - our [G1] Dialogue with friends and [G2] his Symphony C. Some very accomplished work actually - the rest I presume is lost either in move back to Germany or in the chaos of his life.
[D1] Live at Pineapple Peppermint - Strange surreal performance in a very strange place with German composer Johannas Schafer - AKA Dr C and I composer percussionist Julian Broadhurst. What can I say of him - friend - mathematician - - lost soul - he visited me - when he was back in the world from some far out trip.
“Dr Johannas Schafer - Logic, music and Mathematics Genius I met at 18 when he was part of Avant Improv Band through another member who introduced us. He taught me so much at 18 with his music and his logic - lunatic, genius, Cosmic sailor - he fried himself. We might unkindly say an Acid Casualty. I don’t do drugs but I him sailed with musically on this and two other albums”.
Can I describe his flat to you - on the 3rd floor of a tatty house - flat 5 - which to a musician is a Tritone, a flattened fifth - a pope once described it as the devil in music, banning its use in Christian music. Johannas was obsessed with it and its ratio. His flat was a Cave of Cigarette ash, books and junk - Ash piled into cones on every surface and manuscript paper everywhere. I was 18 he was a Mahler man kike me. We spent a lot of time talking - when I could manage to catch him in, he spent most of time in London and in between times on other worlds he visited in his mind.
Years later in about 2008 Long story [wont bore you] some strange Kats and he were performing as an early version of what became [D] Revenge of the Umbrella People after he asked me to join. A cosmic Tangerine Dreamhead I had a lot of work of my own and had just finished working as Etuda.
